Cell Phone Repair is Psychologically Taxing – Here’s How You Relax!

Let’s face it – most occupations in today’s world are tough.

Consider the factors that have made it this way.

Population explosion. Depleting natural resources. Ecological loss. General cultural anxiety. Let’s not even talk about the morose that COVID has brought to the mix.

All issues that have put unprecedented strain on the individual.

But some trades definitely have it worse than others. I’m talking about the kinds that require a lot of minute focus. Careful handling so there’s more good rendered than harm. Or only the former disposition (ideally).

When we narrow it down like this, two professions easily come to mind. Human surgery and electronic circuit repairs.

Now, as a long-time cell phone repair tech, I’m obviously going to focus on the latter. I’m sure you can add more vocations to this list.

Busting a prevalent misunderstanding

Let me start off, however, by dispelling a certain myth about the work.

There’s this understanding outside the field that the undertaking is only suited to a select few. A domain of gilded artisans made arrogant because of their craft. Unwelcoming to all newcomers who might steal their tricks. Divert a meager revenue pool towards their own offices.

Believe me when I say: Nothing could be farther from the truth!

Why?

Because the internet, a new-age providence unlike any other, has rendered the case otherwise.

Its avalanche of free tutorials makes it easy for anyone competent enough to self-learn. Versed, I mean, in a basic set of computing skills – and perhaps some electrical know-how. And the motivation to pursue self-growth, of course. There’s no doing away with the requirement of systematic time investment, reading, and thinking.

Nowadays, cell phone repair shop software has significantly lowered the business’s learning curve. Further, it’s taken away a lot of the field’s managerial heavy lifting. All courtesy, of course, of its stellar process-automating, syncing and streamlining. Empowering the tech with one-click solutions. Or ‘work resolutions’, as I like to call them.

Enabling the expert to focus on the actual fix.

On the toll brought on by creativity

But despite this modern recourse, the problem remains.

Repair techs still complain of burnout. They enroll in depression and anxiety treatment routines. Looking for ways to blow some steam. Seeking catharsis – a temporary escape. Grounded in the belief that such a reprieve will instill the will to carry on.

The best few in the guild suffer from creativity taxation. A self-devised coinage meant to indicate a characteristic vexation. Something which even some budding techs can relate with.

All on account of the unorthodox, often original, solutions demanded by the trade.

Take the case of the typical micro-soldering gig.

Here, the tech, armed with a soldering probe, seeks to work either with or against the circuit. The aim, of course, is to make the fix without voiding the warranty.

Device manufacturers don’t like to share the repair wealth. As is popularly known, they want to retain all gadget fixing rights post-sales. A consumer rights issue that the Right to Repair movement has for long been clamoring against. Something brought to the fore in the advocacy campaigns of even a few cell phone repair shop software manufacturers – for understandable reasons.

Creativity, in turn, demands energy expenditure. Lots of ATP broken down at the cellular (neuronal) level. No wonder the workers engaged in dishing it regularly feel drained after a season. A timeframe that can even last for a few hours, depending on the neurosis entailed.

Working Rationale & Logic: Close Seconds

The repetitive, predictable nature of the work is also unnerving. Another tax exerted on both the conscious frame and conscience.

Human beings, per any analysis or conjecture, are not machines. The monotony of routine bores us; being a threat to all instances of serendipity. An innate tendency that chases away all epiphany.

So, for any plan that attempts to alleviate this concern, this issue also needs to be accounted for.

5 Tips on a Resolution

Ok. So now that we’ve discussed (and hopefully agreed to) the fact that cell phone repair is stressful, how do we go forward?

Should we rest on our laurels, hoping that the elephant would run away by itself?

Of course not.

Choosing to ignore the problem is not an option. Because the active repression of an issue only leads to its festering. Becoming a more pressing affliction than it already is – than it should be.

In my experience, the only way to get rid of the headache is to go for a mind shift. A complete overhaul of vantage that begets a cognitive/perceptual change.

Something I’ve achieved through a five-pronged formula of my own making. Actionable tips that work – in systemic fashion – in line with the following rubric:

  • Clear the Clutter
  • Meditate (through Grounding, Deep Breathing, Spiritual Cultivation)
  • Mix Cardio & Aerobics
  • Hydrate, Supplement, & Diet Well
  • Sleep your 7-9 Hours

I detail each in order below. And no – a good cell phone repair shop software is no substitute. No matter what the taglines lambasted on the airways would have you believe.

1. Start with Some Clutter Control

Reads like a no-brainer, I know. But you’d be surprised to learn how many people, never mind repair techs, ignore this prescription. All to their own peril. Advice I imbibed from a Navy Admiral with a viral video on YouTube – proudly venting on his morning routine.

So before you advance onto the next tactic, see if the declutter – alone – fixes things.

2. Go Meditative

There are times in our working life when all of us need some grounding. Attained through a strategic centering. A ‘warding off’ of routine, activity, and emotion. Going into a passive, neutral state of functioning. Receptive to the currents of the environment – to all stimuli.

Sitting barefoot on the grass is a good way of getting there. So is deep breathing. Ever tried the 10-10-10 seconds inhale, hold, exhale routine? Normally, 5 consecutive reps are enough to impart some instant relaxation.

3. Work the Cardio+Aerobics Combo

Endorphins are nature’s opiates; the original pain and stress relievers. And nothing brings these out, as scientific empiricism shows, quite like exercise.

So, for a quick mood and pent-up-heat fix, consider hopping on the treadmill. Literally. You don’t, of course, need to fixate on only the said contraption.

If you’re unruly with piling loads, take up a simple wrist flex. An easy workout when you’re all bogged down with your repair shop software.

4. Hydrate & Eat Proper!

Another obvious recourse. One that, with the right ingredients, stimulates the body’s natural serotonin and dopamine secretions. The feel-good chemicals that beget the desirable high you experience when engaged in a favorite pastime. Or when you’re indulging in a delicious treat.

Getting the adequate 8 (250ml) glasses of water should also become a going standard.

5. Get Snoozing

According to scientific convention, individuals aged between 16-64 years of age need between 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep time. As a repair tech tethered to a POS software, you need to find the suitable average that works for you. And just for clarity, this formula is intended for the daily 24-hour period.

My strong advice at this juncture would be to not skimp on this experiential pointer. Because there’s actual evidence, believe it or not, that the brain actively shrinks with insufficient sleep.

An ailment which people unthinkingly bring on themselves – with their damaging, unjustifiable routines.

So there you have it.

My go-to route for remedying a tiresome cell phone repair schedule.

I’d be happy to consider your take on the matter – so please feel generous with the comments field. 🤗
